Dreaded Holiday Food

Dreaded Holiday Food

We've all heard it before right? The whole, "My New Year's resolution is to lose weight" or "my resolution is to eat healthier". This can be so hard when it comes time to the holidays! I find myself shoveling down pie, cookies, and so many other delicious foods around this time a year between meeting up with old friends for lunch or having family over for a huge dinner. But a simple way I like to stay on track during the holidays is to use a food tracker to track calories and/or macronutrients! This way you can physically see all the foods you've eaten that day and make yourself aware of how many calories you are really eating! Check out My Fitness Pal for a great app that does this!

  1. Ive tried to use food trackers before. I find it too much of a pain to keep typing it in my phone every time i eat something. Maybe Im just lazy. For me, Ive come to memorize how many calories, grams of protien, carbs etc are in the foods I eat on a day to day basis. If your trying to diet or lose weight for a personal goal then it is important to have an accurate log.

  2. I am one of those people who think, New Year new resolution, and you're right, it is very hard and rarely works! Its difficult to stay on task in the regular year, but during the holidays is sooooo hard. Using apps is very useful and mostly helps me out with staying on task. I think I will listen to you in your advice, seems you do great for yourself!

  3. I hardly keep track of what I am eating up here at SRU. I am an incredibly lazy person when I keep track of what I am eating. Different story when I am back home, I usually do a good job of knowing what I am consuming whether its carbs, proteins, or whatever. Definitely want to check out My Fitness Pal now.
